Dundee Boy's Rescue Day Party!!!

This morning my humans took me for a long walk to Starbuck's and Parkview Pet store. Joe gave me lots of lamb puffs at the pet store. Mmmmmm! Lamb Puffs!

I took a nap and then later we went to Dundee Boy's Rescue Day Party. I was SO excited!!! I was a little nervous too but then I met Dundee Boy and Scruffy. They were both nice. I like them. My human took my leash off so I could walk around the yard. Here's a picture of me with Dundee Boy.

He isn't looking at the camera because he's drinking water.

I thought there was going to be a hoagie pool, but there wasn't. There was a doggie pool. I didn't go in the pool and I was kind of disappointed that there weren't any hoagies. My human says she always said 'doggie' pool, never 'hoagie' pool. I say, I'm a dog; I have excellent hearing.

There were cats at the party too and they had an outside cage. Here's a picture of me with Amigo in his outside cage.

My human took me inside. I didn't think I would like it inside because they have tile floors, but then Yvette gave me a meatball on a stick! MMMMMMMMMM! Sooooo goooood! Here's a picture of me getting my meatball.

I met Bucky Bloo inside. He's another cat. Here's a picture of me with Scruffy and Bucky Bloo.
It's not a very good picture. My human took it. I like Bucky Bloo. He talked a lot.

Then we went back outside and I tried to mooch food with Scruffy. Here's a picture of me and Scruffy mooching.

It's not a very good picture either. My human gave us both beef liver treats, but she wouldn't let me have any chips.

My human sat on the patio but most of the time I lay down in the doorway. Here's a picture of me in the doorway.
I was just making sure that Bucky Bloo didn't get out.

Then it was cheesecake time!! Here's a picture of Dundee Boy's cheesecake.
And here's a picture of Dundee Boy and Scruffy waiting for the cheesecake.
I think they were hoping it would fall on the ground so they could eat all of it. It was from Famous Fido's and it was chicken flavored. Mmmmmmm!

Here's a picture of me about to get my piece of cheesecake.
MMMMMMMMMM! It was soooooo goooood! I ate the whole thing in one bite. (It was a small piece. It just looks big in the picture because of the camera angle.)

We stayed at the party for a long time. Everyone was really nice and pet me a lot. I fell asleep by the doorway. Cheescake makes me sleepy.

When we left Yvette gave me a piece of cheesecake to take home for later. THANK YOU, YVETTE!!!!! I give Dundee Boy's Rescue Day Party 4 PAWS!!

When we got home the cats sniffed me a lot. I think they were jealous. For dinner I'm pretty sure I got less food than normal. I don't think that's right. My human says I'm fat. I'm not fat; I'm full figured and I have lots of fur!! I'm tired and my chest hurts. I'm going to go to sleep now. I better get my cheesecake tomorrow.

Loooong Day

Today I went for a walk with my humans. We walked to Dunkin Donuts. I was so excited!! I LOVE donuts!! Here's a picture of me waiting outside Dunkin Donuts.

See how happy I look. It's because I think I'm getting donuts. Mmmmmmm! But I didn't get donuts. My human got coffee and a bagel and I got nothing! HUMPH! I thought maybe I could walk to the pet store for treats. I kept trying to walk toward the pet store, but my humans wouldn't go that way. They walked me to Buttercup Playlot. It was okay, but the pet store would have been a lot better. I give Buttercup Playlot 2 Paws. Then we walked all the way down to the park and I stood in the shade and my human brushed me with the Furminator. Here's a picture of me after my brushing.

It's about time! See all the fur on the ground? That's just the stuff that didn't blow away. I don't really like being brushed all that much, but I felt a lot cooler after.

I saw a squirrel on the grass out in the open and he didn't notice me. I was thirsty and squirrels may look furry and hot, but they're really juicy and very refreshing. The squirrel saw me and started running around in circles. I tried to run after him but my leash stopped me. I would have caught that squirrel if I didn't have a leash on! I started running around and jumping because I almost caught a squirrel and it made me really excited. Then I was hot and tired and we went home.

At home I got a special treat – I got a TriPom chicken chew! Mmmmmmm! I LOVE TriPom Chews! Here's a picture of the giant bag my human got me.

It was my special Grizzly Day present. I like the ones with molasses best. MMMMMMMM! I give TriPom Chews 4 Paws! Mmmmmmore please!

Later I went down on the deck with my human. I only went down because I thought I was going to get fed outside. But I didn't get anything.

Then after that my humans took me down to the corner of our street and we stood there with some other people for a long time. I didn't see the point. My human says it helps keep the neighborhood safe. Huh? She calls it 'positive loitering.' I call it boring. I was glad when we went back home. My dinner was late from standing outside so long.

Then later my humans headed out the back and I wanted to go with. I LOVE car rides! And this was a goooood car ride – we went to Popeye's! MMMMMMMM!!! Fried chicken!!!! Biscuits!!! French fries!!! Mac and cheese!!! MMMMMMMMMMNNGHHH!!! We went to the drive thru. I LOVE big bags of food! It smelled sooooo goooood!! I got so excited. My human gave me a french fry. MMMMMM!!!! When we got home I got some of everything – except the coleslaw. I probably would eat the coleslaw, but I wouldn't like it as much as fried chicken and french fries and MMMMMMMM!!!!! I give Popeye's 4 Paws! The only thing that would have made it better is if I had a donut for dessert.

My chest hurts. I'm going to bed.

Pet Store Day!

Today I got to go on a car ride to Hyde Park. I went and visited Parker's Pets on 55th Street. Here's a picture of me in the pet store.

I LOVE Parker's Pets! See all the treats? They have soooo many treats there. I was excited when I saw the counter because I know counters mean dog treats! When you see a counter you have to run right up and sit down and look cute and then the person behind the counter will give you treats. Mmmmmmm! (It's really important to get right up to the front of the counter, so if someone else is there just push in front of them.) I give Parker's Pets 3 Paws! I want to go back soon. My human bought some stuff and then we left. I thought we were going home, but we went to Parkview Pet store instead and I got to see Joe and get more treats! MMMMMMM! Then we went home. It was a pretty good day for being so hot out.

Summer? Still?

It was so cool this morning! I thought the heat wave was over. Now it's sweltering again. Huh? If it weren't for the doggie draft I would move back to Norway. Seriously; they draft dogs there. Just Elkhounds, but still. I'm not good with authority. Air conditioning now please!!

Ugh!

I've been really tired since Rib Fest and it's been really hot out. Hot and muggy. Sometimes hot is okay, but muggy is always bad. And my humans turned off the air conditioning today because they think the breeze is nice. It's not nice! It's HOT and MUGGY!! My human gave me a frozen dogurt today. Yeah, like that makes everything okay. I like dogurt, but I'm still hot. I miss snow. Here's a picture of me in the snow.
I was happy then. I'm not happy now. I'm hot and muggy. What this place needs is a walk-in freezer. I'd walk in one right now.

Uptown Rib Fest!!

Today I finally got to go to RIB FEST!! It was soooo good! Here's a picture of me by the entrance.

We walked all the way through Rib Fest and lots of people stopped to say how pretty I am and pet me. I don't care! I know I'm pretty – I want ribs!! On the way over to the rib stands there was a guy handing out scoops of kettle popcorn and my human gave me a whole scoop! It was really good. I tried to eat the pieces on the ground, but I wasn't allowed. Then I got to try the ribs. First we went to Famous Dave's. Here's a picture of me waiting in line at Famous Dave's.

Here's a picture of me getting my first bite of ribs!

MMMMMMMM! I was so excited I almost got a taste of finger too! I liked Famous Dave's ribs because they were fatty and had lots of sauce on them. Then I tried Uncle Bub's ribs. Here's a picture of me standing in line at Uncle Bub's.

They were good, but not as good as Famous Dave's because they were lean and had less sauce. Lean ribs? Hunh? Then I tried Chicago BBQ Company ribs. Here's a picture of me waiting in line at Chicago BBQ Company.

They were really good! I think they had the most fat of all! MMMMMNNNNGGGHHHH!!!!! Here's a picture of me doing a trick for Chicago BBQ Company ribs.
I'm waving. It's blurry because it's an action shot.

After that we went home. I was really thirsty and I didn't think I could make it up the stairs. My chest hurts. I'm going to go lie down. This was the best day EVER! I give Rib Fest 4 Paws!! Mmmmmm! Rib Fest!

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Hmph.

Today we went to another pet store protest. It was hot. Last time I was in the shade but today there was hardly any shade. Then there was a loud pop. Aroo?! Duck and cover! My human said it was just a balloon. I wanted to leave right then! On the corner by the car there was a loud bang. Serpentine! Serpentine! I made it to the car and got right in. I don't know why my human is taking me into bad neighborhoods where I could get shot, but next time I'm staying home. My human said it was just a bike tire exploding. I don't care what it was, I didn’t like it.

Then we went to Petco and I wasn't allowed to have any treats from the cashier. Finally we went to grandma's house. I got some chicken jerky at grandma's house because she loves me. But they wouldn't let me eat the cat kibble.
At home my humans took my chillow away because it has too many holes in it. I didn't poke the holes in it. If I don't mind getting wet then I don't see why they care. I did not get to Rib Fest. I don't think this was a very good day.

Grizzly Day 2010!

Today is the one year anniversary of when I came to live with my humans. They call it Grizzly Day. I was very excited for Grizzly Day because it is MY day so I had it all planned out. First I was going to go to the beach. Then I was going to go to the bank and Starbuck's for treats and a cup of water. Next I was going to the pet store to see Joe and get more treats. Then I was going to go to Rib Fest! I think it's so great that they are having Rib Fest on Grizzly Day. I was SO excited! Mmmmmmmm! I'll have the Kansas City Special, please! Mmmmmm! And honey mustard, and sweet and spicy, and mmmmmmm! One of everything, please!!

But that's not what happened. First, this morning I got only half my normal food for breakfast. WHAT!? I get LESS food on Grizzly Day?! What's good about that?! Then, my humans went to Jack's for breakfast WITHOUT ME! Huh?? I was starting to think that Grizzly Day really sucked.

Then when my humans came back from Jack's, they had a doggy bag with them. I could smell the pancakes as soon as they opened the door. My human made me Griddlycakes. Those are special pancakes just for me. They're silver dollar pancakes topped with peanut butter and chopped Canadian bacon and drizzled with molasses. MMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! More, please!! I got three, but I could have eaten a dozen! MMMMMMM! Here's a picture of the Griddlycakes.

And here's a picture of me eating the Griddlycakes.

I tried to eat them all before my human could take a picture, but the peanut butter slowed me down.

Later I went for a walk. Is this when we go to Rib Fest? No. I didn't get to go to Rib Fest. My humans wouldn't take me. They said it was too hot. It was really hot out, but I wouldn't even notice the heat if I had ribs. I could smell them too. I don't know where they were, but they were close by.

My human says that the important thing about Grizzly Day is that it's the anniversary of my rescue. It's not the anniversary of my adoption day because I started out as a foster dog and my humans didn't decide to adopt me until I had been with them for almost two months. This is the picture my human saw of me in the email that said I needed rescue.

I was at Crawford County Humane Society.

Here's a picture of me on the first day that I came to live with my humans.

My fur was really matted and there were lots of ticks and stuff stuck in it. My tummy didn't feel good either. I was happy to be in a home, but I still didn't know what was going on. And they didn't tell me there would be stairs. Lots and lots of stairs. The next day my human took me to the groomer and he shaved all my fur. Here's a picture of me without fur.

It felt weird.

It took me a while to get used to my humans. But now I love my humans and I'm happy I live with them. Even if they don't take me to Rib Fest on Grizzly Day. Rib Fest goes on all weekend, so maybe they'll take me tomorrow…or Sunday. I think next year I'm going to ask if I can have Grizzly Day in the winter. Then at least I could have snow. That might even be better than ribs. Maybe. Ummm…yeah…maybe.

For dinner I got less food again. But then I had a peanut butter frozen dogurt for dessert. Mmmmmmmmm! Here's a picture of me eating my frozen dogurt.

I guess it was a pretty good day even without Rib Fest. But I'm pretty sure Rib Fest would have made it better.

Home Depot and stuff

Yesterday I went to the vet again. It wasn't as bad. I didn't get poked with any needles and I got chicken jerky treats. I still don't like the tile floor. Then I went to Home Depot. I walked around the garden stuff. It's kind of outside and kind of inside. I liked Home Depot. I give Home Depot 3 Paws. Then I sat in the car a lot while my humans took turns going in places that don't allow dogs. I think dogs should be able to go inside stores with their humans. But the car was air conditioned, so I didn't mind.

Today we walked to the library and back. It was hot!! Then tonight we had barbeque on the deck and I had my dinner al fresco! I was so excited to eat outside that I danced. I'm a very good dancer, I just don't do it that often. Maybe this winter my humans can throw sausages off the back steps for me and I can dive into snow drifts after them. Mmmmmmm! Sausages and snow! Two of my favorites! When I went upstairs the cats were being fed. I waited for my food, but I didn't get anymore. I think when I get fed outside I should still get dinner inside too.

Protest and Fundraiser

Today I went to a pet store protest. I thought we were going to Costco to get sausages because it was right there, but instead we were protesting Pawsh Puppies. My owner says they sell puppy mill dogs and that's bad. I would protest them just because of their stupid name. I didn't think I would like the protest, but it was okay. There were lots of people who were nice to me and a little boy who pet me a lot. Here's a picture of me with the little boy.

You can see some of the protesters in the background. One of them is dressed like a dog. Weird. I didn't like all the honking though. Lots of people honked when they drove by. Why did people honk at me? I wasn't in the way. A guy kept taking my picture too. I don't know what that was about. Here is a picture of me and my human at the protest.
I'm sticking my tongue out. My human is the one wearing the sign. I'm glad I didn't have to wear a sign. Next time I want sausages.

Then we went to the Wild Pug for an American Animal Rescue Society fundraiser. I HATED IT!! First, they have wood floors – everywhere. I don't like wood floors. They're slippery. I tried to not go inside at all, but my human dragged me in. I stopped in the middle of the doorway and she reached behind me and PUSHED me in!! I DON'T LIKE BEING PUSHED!! Inside it was even worse. It was loud and there were lots of dogs running around. There were lots of pugs. I don't like pugs. I suppose there might be a pug somewhere that I might like, but I haven't met one yet. I didn't think much of the other dogs either. And a woman kept taking my picture with a big flash. I stood by a nice man who pet me a lot. I liked him. He was holding a dachshund. I like dachshunds. Not all dachshunds, but most of them. Then some bigger dogs came in and they had bad manners. A pug jumped on me and a big dog kept trying to sniff me. I growled and he went away. I did get some chicken jerky and that was good. But the pugs kept jumping all over the place and I think even my human was annoyed. And then this one dog kept trying to hump other dogs. If he had tried to hump me I would have given him what for and my human knows it, so we left. When I tried to leave all these people and dogs were in front of the door and I was on the wood floors and it really sucked. I was SOOOOO happy to finally be outside again! It would have been a better day if we had just stayed outside. I give the Wild Pug 0 Paws. Even the chicken jerky wasn't worth it. I'm not going back – ever.

Vet visit

Today I was really excited to go for a car ride, but then my human took me to the vet. I go to Family Pet Animal Hospital. I like going in and standing on the scale, but I don't like the rest of it. The floors are slippery and I got taken in the back room and they did stuff that I didn't like. I think if I met my vet in the park I would like her, but I don't like seeing her at the vet office. And they gave me a shot. I don't like shots. And now I'm not allowed to eat any kibble. I like kibble. Dog kibble, cat kibble. I like all of it, but now I'm not allowed. I give the vet 1 Paw but only because I think she's a nice person. I think I should get pancakes when I go to the vet. Then I might like it better. (My human wants me to give the vet more Paws because she says they are really good, but she isn't the one who got poked with needles and she doesn't have Paws, so she doesn't get to vote. If she wants to rate the vet then she should get her own blog.)

Restaurants

This morning my humans left me at home and went to Jack's Restaurant for breakfast. I've never been to Jack's because they don't allow dogs. I don't see why not. I went to a restaurant with my humans once. It was Charlie's Ale House in Andersonville. We sat outside. There wasn't room for me. When I tried to lie down I blocked the sidewalk and the tables were tiny and it was dirty under them so I spent a lot of time standing. We were there for a long time and then my humans ate and didn't even give me any. Not even one french fry. I like french fries. I like tater tots too. Mmmmmm! Tater tots! I think if I go to a restaurant I should be able to eat there and not be stuck under a little table or in the middle of the sidewalk. I give Charlie's Ale House 1 Paw but only because the waitress was nice. My humans brought home a doggy bag from Jack's and I got pancakes and bacon! Mmmmmmm! I like pancakes and bacon! You know what would be really good? Cheese pancakes and bacon! MMMMM!

This afternoon was really, really, REALLY hot out so I went to the beach. Mostly I just lay down in the water and barked at dogs and chased them to let them know it was my beach, but I also played with my new toy. Here's a picture of my new toy.

I give it 3 Paws. Then when we came home, my humans took me in the backyard and sprayed me with a hose! I don't get it. I'm already wet, why did they have to use a hose? I didn't like it.

That's all I did today because it was too hot to do anything else.

National Barbeque Day!

Yesterday I got to go to Parkview Pet store. I was hot, but it was worth it. When we came home we had barbeque. Mmmmmm! Ribs!! Then last night there were fireworks. I don't get fireworks. I mean if you like loud noises and having someone shine bright lights in your face, but I don't. And they smell really bad too. The cats don't like them either – they hid under the bed. But after the fireworks I got a beefy bone, so I guess it was okay. My human tried to take me for a walk late last night, but I wouldn't go. The whole place stank like fireworks.

This morning I went for a short walk. I could still smell the fireworks and I was tired and hot. When I was awake at noon we went out and I could still smell the fireworks a little, but that didn't matter because the whole neighborhood smelled even more like BARBEQUE!!! We walked in the park and there were barbeques EVERYWHERE! I tried to go over and get some but my human wouldn't let me. I don't see why not. I get food off the grill at home and I'm sure the people would have shared with me. I think my humans felt bad about not letting me go over to any of the barbeques (there were so many!!), because when we got home they gave me a homemade frozen dogurt (mmmmmm! peanut butter and yogurt! mmmmmm!) and then when they had lunch I got ribs and macaroni and cheese. MMMMMMMM! You know what would be really good? Cheese ribs!!!! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! And maybe they could put some bacon bits on top! MMMNNGH!! SOOOOOO GOOOOOD!!!!

There were lots more fireworks today, but they were smaller and further away. Other than the fireworks I think the 4th of July is the best holiday because it is all about barbeque. Why don't they call it National Barbeque Day? I would. I would lose the fireworks and just throw some sausages into the air instead. That makes more sense on National Barbeque Day. Next year I want S'mores.

Ladd Arboretum

Today I went for a car ride to Ladd Arboretum! It was nice and cool out and we went for a long walk. There were a bunch of children who wanted to pet me. I like children. There were lots of new smells too. I smelled furry woodland creatures and I wanted to follow their trail and catch them, but I wasn't allowed. My human took lots of pictures. At first I wouldn't look at her, but then I gave in. Here's a picture of me on a path refusing to look at the camera.

Here's a picture of me by some flowers. There were lots of bumble bees, but my humans wouldn't let me snap at them.

Here's a picture of me at the park entrance.

Here's a picture of me by some hut or something. My human is hiding behind the post but she's too lazy to photoshop the leash out of the picture. Hmph.

There was a playground but it was empty so I climbed on the train. Here's a picture of me in the engine.

Here's a picture of me in the caboose.

I didn't like all the picture taking and that I couldn't be off leash and hunt squirrels and rabbits, so I give Ladd Arboretum 2 Paws. My humans said they'll take me back in the winter. I think I'll like it better if there's snow. I can't wait for winter. It's soon, right? I was really tired when we got back to the car. But when I got home I didn't want to go upstairs. I wanted to stay on the deck. I lay down on the deck and even rolled over, but my human made me go upstairs anyway. I think I should get a Polar Pup for posing for pictures. But all I got was one peanut butter pretzel. Mmmmmm! Peanut butter pretzels!
