Orvis!

This morning I went to visit Grandma at the rehab center again. I've been going there a lot lately and I like it. I get to go around and say hi to lots of people who are really happy to see me. I'm even walking on the wood floors there and it's not even scary. After I saw Grandma my humans drove me downtown. I've never been downtown before! We walked around and it smelled soooo good! I smelled Indian food and Japanese food and pizza and popcorn! Mmmmmm popcorn! My human wanted some popcorn but she said the line was too long. Huh? If you want something from someone behind a counter, just push your way up, that's what I do! But we didn't get any popcorn.

We walked by The Capital Grille. It smelled SOOOO good! MMMMMMMMM steak!!! I wanted to go in, but I wasn't allowed. Here's a picture of me outside The Capital Grille.

Maybe if they see my picture they'll let me come in. Please?!

We went to Orvis to buy a dog bed. Orvis is dog friendly, so I got to go inside. It was all carpeted! They didn't have any dog beds for me to try, so we had to order it. Here's a picture of me at the counter ordering my dog bed.

I liked the Orvis store, but they didn't have any dog treats. I don't see why not. Here's a picture of me in the fly fishing department.
It's not a very good picture. My human thought this was funny. I don't get it.

Here's a picture of me next to a stuffed bear footrest.

It's blurry. I thought it was a dog at first, but I was the only dog there. Everyone came over to pet me. I was a big hit. They should pay me to greet people – I bet they'd sell a lot of stuff if I worked there. And I'm willing to work for peanuts. They should have more dog stuff though – and treats. I give Orvis 2 Paws.

Then we walked over to Olive Park. It was okay, but we had to go up and down a long ramp and through a tunnel. I don't think it was worth it. I didn't even get to go on the beach. I give Olive Park 1 Paw. Then we came home and now I'm going to take a long nap on the couch. Wake me up when my dog bed gets here.

Peace Day

Today I went to Rainbow Beach to take part in the Peace Day celebration as an Ambassador Dog for Safe Humane Chicago. I was really excited to go – even though it was raining a lot. When we got there, we went inside and had to sit in a crowd while some people talked on and on. I wasn't allowed to go over and see the little kids who kept waving at me. Why not?? A couple of people came over to pet me and I liked that.

Then everyone stood up and they all held big flags – hey, don't step on me! Don't hit me with that flag! Everyone started chanting words together and holding up the flags. I didn't like it. I tried to leave, but I wasn't allowed. I stood as close to the door as possible. Nobody said there would be chanting!! It took a really long time, but they finally stopped. Then they moved furniture around and we went into a smaller room. I sat by a stage with two other dogs. There was more talking. Finally people came up to pet me. There weren't that many children and only a couple people came up to me. My human told me that some of them were scared of me. Huh? There was one boy who stayed with me almost the whole time and rubbed my ears a lot. I liked him. I didn't really like the rest of it. Did I mention that there were muffins but I didn't get any? Humph!

And I didn't get to go to the pet store either. I was told I was going to go to the pet store, but I didn't.

Visiting Grandma!

Today I went to the rehab center to visit Grandma. She is sick, so I went over to cheer her up. My human took me in the back way so I wouldn't have to walk on the wood floors. Here's a picture of me with Grandma.

She was really happy to see me. Here's a picture of Grandma feeding me cheese doodles.
Mmmmm! Cheese doodles! See how happy she looks? We stayed in the room with Grandma for a long time. I got a pig heart. Mmmmmmm! Pig hearts!!! I'm a little nervous in new places, so I spent a lot of time standing by the door, but my human kept my leash on so I couldn't walk around outside the room. I wanted to walk around. Later my human took me for a walk down the hallway. We stopped in some other rooms. In one room I visited with a really nice old man. He pet me and talked about his dog a lot. Then later my human took me out into a big room. I was nervous because it had wood floors, but she gave me lots of cheese doodles and the floors didn't seem so bad then. There were a lot of people there and I got to go over and say hi to them. A couple of people didn't want to say hi to me. I don't see why not. After that I fell asleep in Grandma's room until it was time to go home.

Labor Day...Part II

This afternoon I went for a long walk with my humans. We walked all through the park and I smelled barbeque on every side!! There were lots of people sitting around with plates filled with food. I know they would have given me some, but my humans wouldn't let me have any! Why not?? I was being so good and looking so cute - I even did my signature one ear back look. Humph!

After the park, my humans tried to take me inside. NO! I'm not going! I wanted to go to the pet store and see Joe and get treats. I stood my ground and finally they walked me some more. I headed west to the pet store, but they kept taking me north. We went to Starbuck's. Then I thought for sure we would go to the pet store, but instead, my humans headed east. I wasn't going to go, but they distracted me with whipped cream and before I knew it we were almost to Lake Shore Drive.

We went by the lake and I got so excited - I haven't been to the dog beach in forever! But we walked right by the dog beach. Huh??!! NO! I'm not going home! I'm going to the dog beach! I wouldn't walk and finally they gave in and took me to the beach. I was SOOOO excited. I ran right down the ramp and out into the water. It was so cold!!! There were lots of other dogs around, but I ignored them. My human found a big stick and she threw it in the water over and over again and I ran out and got it. Then I looked over by the ramp and my friend Star was there! Star is a long haired black dachshund. He is so much fun! And his human was there and she was eating nachos - MMMMMMMMM!!! Nachos!! I've never had nachos before, but I could tell they were really good. I sat right in front of her and finally she gave me some nachos. I was right!!!! They were reeeeeally gooood! I had to share them with Star and he tried to eat all the cheese. But I still got about four big bites. Then Star and I ran around. There was a big space at the end of the beach where the fence ended and I chased him out onto the human side of the beach. My human didn't like that, so we ran back. But it was fun and we ran out again. After that Star wasn't allowed off his leash again, so we just went back in the water. We had run the whole length of the beach and I was really tired, so we went home.

Other than not getting any barbeque and not going to the pet store, it was a pretty good day. And then tonight my humans had BARBEQUE!!!! They barbequed New York Strip Steaks!! I got to go down on the deck while they barbequed. After they finished eating their dinner, I got my dinner. It had all the steak gravy and three big chunks of meat on top!! MMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! It smelled so salty and goooood!! I was so excited that I barked about five times for my dinner! And it tasted even better than it smelled!! I don't think it totally makes up for earlier, but it was still a really good day.

Labor Day...Part I

Today is Labor Day and I know what that means - BARBEQUE!! And it's not 100 degrees outside! I can't wait! Maybe I'll get some sausages - MMMMMMM sausages! Or ribs, or chicken, or pork! Mmmmmmm! And I'll get to go down on the deck! Maybe I'll catch a squirrel today - I'm just so excited! Here's a picture of me on the couch. See how excited I am? Now if it would only snow....

Dog Day on the Green

Today I went to Dog Day on the Green at Montrose Harbor. It was hot! We walked around to all the booths. I thought they would have treats, but nobody gave me any. My human brought treats, so I got some of my cheese puff treats. I like them, but I get those all the time. I think that if you go to a dog event, you should bring treats. Period.

Then my human took me to the agility course. A woman walked around and gave me cheese when I followed her. Here's a picture of me stepping through a big round thing and eating string cheese.

There aren't too many places I wouldn't go if there is string cheese in front of me. Here's a picture of me going through a tube.
It's not my best angle. It was cool inside the tube, so I decided to lie down. Here's a picture of me trying to ignore the string cheese so I can stay inside the cool tube.
Here's a picture of me trying to reach the string cheese without leaving the cool tube.

No! It's hot! Why are you people tormenting me with cheese?! Here's a picture of me sitting on the edge of the tube for the string cheese.

It was too good to resist. I made it through the whole course. I would have been happy just to eat cheese. I don't see why I had to walk all over the place for it.

After the agility course we sat around for a long time doing nothing and I was really hot. It was boring. Then one of my humans took me over to the Robinson's Rib tent. Mmmmmmm! Ribs! I was so excited! He didn't get ribs, he got a cheeseburger. MMMMMMM! Cheeseburgers!! Here's a picture of me waiting for some cheeseburger.
It was sooooo good!!

Then we went into a tent for the Safe Humane Chicago presentation and I sat up at the front of the tent where everyone could see me. There were supposed to be lots of kids there to come up and pet me, but there weren't any. Some people took my picture and said I was pretty. After that we went over to another tent and I was the only dog there – except for some fake dogs. Why? I don't know. Here's a picture of me with one of the fake dogs.
I sat around and got treats while children came up to pet me. Here's a picture of me being petted by a little girl.
Here's a picture of a little girl saying hi.
Here's a picture of her petting me.
After they pet me, the children got lollipops. Hey, those smell good! Here's a picture of me trying to get a lollipop.
I wasn't allowed.
My human said she would take me to the beach later, but we didn't go to the beach, we just came home. That's okay with me. I'm exhausted. At home I got a peanut butter frozen dogurt! MMMMMMMM! Dogurt! Zzzzzzzzzz.....

Forever!!

My human is finally back! She abandoned me for the longest time - it felt like forever. My other human and I had fun while she was gone. I went to the beach a lot and to Parkview to see Joe. I got to sleep late every day! But I like having both my humans home - I don't like it when they go away and leave me. Now everything is back to normal - sort of. This weekend my human says we are going to go to Dog Day on the Green. I don't know what that means. As long as they have sausages, I'll go.
