Grizzly Day 2010!

Today is the one year anniversary of when I came to live with my humans. They call it Grizzly Day. I was very excited for Grizzly Day because it is MY day so I had it all planned out. First I was going to go to the beach. Then I was going to go to the bank and Starbuck's for treats and a cup of water. Next I was going to the pet store to see Joe and get more treats. Then I was going to go to Rib Fest! I think it's so great that they are having Rib Fest on Grizzly Day. I was SO excited! Mmmmmmmm! I'll have the Kansas City Special, please! Mmmmmm! And honey mustard, and sweet and spicy, and mmmmmmm! One of everything, please!!

But that's not what happened. First, this morning I got only half my normal food for breakfast. WHAT!? I get LESS food on Grizzly Day?! What's good about that?! Then, my humans went to Jack's for breakfast WITHOUT ME! Huh?? I was starting to think that Grizzly Day really sucked.

Then when my humans came back from Jack's, they had a doggy bag with them. I could smell the pancakes as soon as they opened the door. My human made me Griddlycakes. Those are special pancakes just for me. They're silver dollar pancakes topped with peanut butter and chopped Canadian bacon and drizzled with molasses. MMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! More, please!! I got three, but I could have eaten a dozen! MMMMMMM! Here's a picture of the Griddlycakes.

And here's a picture of me eating the Griddlycakes.

I tried to eat them all before my human could take a picture, but the peanut butter slowed me down.

Later I went for a walk. Is this when we go to Rib Fest? No. I didn't get to go to Rib Fest. My humans wouldn't take me. They said it was too hot. It was really hot out, but I wouldn't even notice the heat if I had ribs. I could smell them too. I don't know where they were, but they were close by.

My human says that the important thing about Grizzly Day is that it's the anniversary of my rescue. It's not the anniversary of my adoption day because I started out as a foster dog and my humans didn't decide to adopt me until I had been with them for almost two months. This is the picture my human saw of me in the email that said I needed rescue.

I was at Crawford County Humane Society.

Here's a picture of me on the first day that I came to live with my humans.

My fur was really matted and there were lots of ticks and stuff stuck in it. My tummy didn't feel good either. I was happy to be in a home, but I still didn't know what was going on. And they didn't tell me there would be stairs. Lots and lots of stairs. The next day my human took me to the groomer and he shaved all my fur. Here's a picture of me without fur.

It felt weird.

It took me a while to get used to my humans. But now I love my humans and I'm happy I live with them. Even if they don't take me to Rib Fest on Grizzly Day. Rib Fest goes on all weekend, so maybe they'll take me tomorrow…or Sunday. I think next year I'm going to ask if I can have Grizzly Day in the winter. Then at least I could have snow. That might even be better than ribs. Maybe. Ummm…yeah…maybe.

For dinner I got less food again. But then I had a peanut butter frozen dogurt for dessert. Mmmmmmmmm! Here's a picture of me eating my frozen dogurt.

I guess it was a pretty good day even without Rib Fest. But I'm pretty sure Rib Fest would have made it better.
