HOT

Yesterday was so hot. I didn't think it could get that hot. I had a fundraiser to go to called Divas & Dogs: A Pink Tie Affair, so my humans drove me to Parker's pet store to find me something to wear. Really? Yeah, they really did. They bought me a pink leash. Um...pink's not really my color. While we were there I snagged a corkscrew pig something or other. Mmmmmmm! Pig! It was delicious. Then we drove to the University of Chicago campus and went for a walk in the gardens on the Midway. Here's a picture of me in the garden.
I'm broiling. Why don't you just take me home and shove me in the oven? I turned around and headed back to the car. Here's a picture of me heading back to the car.
My human is still trying to take pictures; I'm just trying not to die of heat exhaustion. When we got home, my humans brought a kiddie pool out and filled it with water. They got me to stand in it. Here's a picture of me standing in my kiddie pool.
Um...now what? Actually, it felt pretty good. It tasted good too! Here's a picture of me drinking in my kiddie pool.
Ah, refreshing! Can we go back in the air conditioning, please?

Then we went to the BARC benefit at Grossinger car dealership. Why was it at a car dealership? I don't know. BARC is the group that sent out an email with my picture when I was in the pound and that's how my humans found out about me and rescued me. I was wearing my new pink leash and some stupid flower thing my human put on my collar. Here's a picture of me with the pink leash and flower thing.
It's gigantic and it kept falling down under my chin. SO annoying. There were some booths at the benefit. I know what that means - treats! Here's a picture of me at one of the booths waiting for my treat.
See the flower? It's like some huge growth on the side of my neck. Here's a picture of me eating my treat.
Mmmmm! Chicken strips! Can I have another? I wasn't allowed. Here's a picture of me at another booth waiting for a treat.
It's a really bad picture. They had treats for humans too. They smelled SO good. Here's a picture of me watching the chef from Foodie University make treats for the humans.
See how low the counter is? Know what I'm thinking? Apparently my humans did too, because they didn't let me get close enough to grab anything. They gave me some when no one was watching though. I got some tortilla chips and potato wedges. Mmmmmmm! I also got some bean dip that someone dropped on the floor. Mmmmm! I got my portrait taken (don't ask me why) and there was a guy walking around with a camera who took a bunch of pictures of me and my humans. They hugged me and squished their faces next to mine. Cut it out! You're stifling me!! I got to meet lots of people who told me how pretty I am and petted me. And I got to meet Tina. Tina is the woman who sent out the email with my picture when I was in the pound. THANK YOU, TINA!!! Here's a picture of me with Tina.
Can we go home now? It's past my dinner time and I'm all pictured out. We went home and I got dinner - finally! Maybe tomorrow I'll try that pool again...

Labor Day...Part II

This afternoon I went for a long walk with my humans. We walked all through the park and I smelled barbeque on every side!! There were lots of people sitting around with plates filled with food. I know they would have given me some, but my humans wouldn't let me have any! Why not?? I was being so good and looking so cute - I even did my signature one ear back look. Humph!

After the park, my humans tried to take me inside. NO! I'm not going! I wanted to go to the pet store and see Joe and get treats. I stood my ground and finally they walked me some more. I headed west to the pet store, but they kept taking me north. We went to Starbuck's. Then I thought for sure we would go to the pet store, but instead, my humans headed east. I wasn't going to go, but they distracted me with whipped cream and before I knew it we were almost to Lake Shore Drive.

We went by the lake and I got so excited - I haven't been to the dog beach in forever! But we walked right by the dog beach. Huh??!! NO! I'm not going home! I'm going to the dog beach! I wouldn't walk and finally they gave in and took me to the beach. I was SOOOO excited. I ran right down the ramp and out into the water. It was so cold!!! There were lots of other dogs around, but I ignored them. My human found a big stick and she threw it in the water over and over again and I ran out and got it. Then I looked over by the ramp and my friend Star was there! Star is a long haired black dachshund. He is so much fun! And his human was there and she was eating nachos - MMMMMMMMM!!! Nachos!! I've never had nachos before, but I could tell they were really good. I sat right in front of her and finally she gave me some nachos. I was right!!!! They were reeeeeally gooood! I had to share them with Star and he tried to eat all the cheese. But I still got about four big bites. Then Star and I ran around. There was a big space at the end of the beach where the fence ended and I chased him out onto the human side of the beach. My human didn't like that, so we ran back. But it was fun and we ran out again. After that Star wasn't allowed off his leash again, so we just went back in the water. We had run the whole length of the beach and I was really tired, so we went home.

Other than not getting any barbeque and not going to the pet store, it was a pretty good day. And then tonight my humans had BARBEQUE!!!! They barbequed New York Strip Steaks!! I got to go down on the deck while they barbequed. After they finished eating their dinner, I got my dinner. It had all the steak gravy and three big chunks of meat on top!! MMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! It smelled so salty and goooood!! I was so excited that I barked about five times for my dinner! And it tasted even better than it smelled!! I don't think it totally makes up for earlier, but it was still a really good day.

Pet Store Day!

Today I got to go on a car ride to Hyde Park. I went and visited Parker's Pets on 55th Street. Here's a picture of me in the pet store.

I LOVE Parker's Pets! See all the treats? They have soooo many treats there. I was excited when I saw the counter because I know counters mean dog treats! When you see a counter you have to run right up and sit down and look cute and then the person behind the counter will give you treats. Mmmmmmm! (It's really important to get right up to the front of the counter, so if someone else is there just push in front of them.) I give Parker's Pets 3 Paws! I want to go back soon. My human bought some stuff and then we left. I thought we were going home, but we went to Parkview Pet store instead and I got to see Joe and get more treats! MMMMMMM! Then we went home. It was a pretty good day for being so hot out.
