Wicker "Park"

On Friday I was really excited because my human said we were going to Wicker Park. Is it going to be like Prairie Wolf Dog Park? No. It isn't. In fact, it wasn't a park at all. There was no grass, no trees, just lots of noise and cars and a big confusing intersection. My human said there is an actual park, but we didn't go there. Huh? I don't see why not.
We stopped by Rapid Transit Bike Shop. Here's a picture of me in the bike shop.
There were lots of bikes. Here's another picture of me in the bike shop.
I'm standing by a cart that gets pulled on the back of a bike. Um…do they make these in dog sizes? Here's a picture of me outside the bike shop.
I'm happy in this picture because at this point I still thought we were going to a park.
Then we went to Starbuck's. We had to cross so many streets to get there, but I could see it straight ahead. Why can't we just go straight ahead? I don't get it. Then we had to cross all the streets again just to go back to the car. And I didn't even get whipped cream. Mmmmmm! Whipped cream! Sigh. Wicker "Park" was a bust. And for the record, I didn't see any wicker either.

Photo Op with Mayor Daley

On Saturday I got up early for my photo op with Mayor Daley. First we went to Parkview Pet Supplies and I got 2 lamb ears. Mmmmmmmm! Lamb ears!! I got some beef puffs too! Mmmmmm! Beef puffs! Then we walked across the street to Bromann Playground to wait for the Mayor. Here's a picture of me at Bromann Playground.I'm waiting outside the playground. Why? Because dogs aren't allowed inside the playground. No, really. Here's a picture of me next to the sign that say dogs aren't allowed.Huh? I don't see why not. Some people ignored the sign and took their dogs in anyway. We waited a long time. I was bored. I wanted to go across the street and get another lamb ear. Or two. Finally Mayor Daley showed up. Here's a picture of me with Mayor Daley. He didn't stop. Here's a picture of me outside the park wondering why the hell we just stood around for an hour.I think I was snubbed. I'd rather be at the beach anyway. We went to the beach. Here's a picture of me on the beach.See how much happier I look? Here's a picture of me running out of the water with a big stick. It was really big. After I went in the water I rolled around in the sand. It was nice and cool. Here's a picture of me after I rolled in the sand. What's so funny? I didn't want to go home. I wanted to stay at the beach. Here's a picture of me refusing to leave the beach. No! I'm not going. They made me go. I got to the park. Look! There's still sand here! Let's stay here for a while. Here's a picture of me lying on the sand in the park. They made me get up. No! I don't want to go home! There are too many cats there! It's so nice outside. We got all the way to our block. NO! I'm putting my paws down – all four of them! Here's a picture of me refusing to go home.Do you have something to do? I don't! I can stay here all day! They made me go home. I'll get sand and lake water all over your couch! They made me go home anyway. Sigh.

My Massage

Last week I got a massage. Here's a picture of me with Bruce from Companion Animal Touch Therapies.
He's giving me my massage. Um…is he supposed to be doing that? I wasn't sure what was going on. But it felt really good. Here's another picture of me getting my massage.
See how relaxed I am?
See? Then I got on my Orvis bed and he massaged me there too. Here's a picture of me getting a massage on my dog bed.
Um…oh…yeah….that's it….oh boy. I think I liked my massage but I'm reserving judgment until next time. There's a next time, right? Right?

Prairie Wolf Dog Park - Take Two!

On Saturday I went for a long walk. First we went to Parkview Pet Supplies to see Joe. I got fed treats and stole a lamb ear. Mmmmmm! Lamb ears! Actually I managed to steal two, but one was taken away from me. No fair! I worked hard for that. I tried to steal a pig ear instead, but they took that away too. My human gave Joe a poster with me on it. It's supposed to be a joke. Here's a picture of it.
I don't think it's very funny. I think my humans should be on a poster like this for not feeding me enough. Then we went to Starbuck's. I was prepared to be disappointed again, but my human came out with a coffee lid of whipped cream just for me! Mmmmmmmm!! Whipped cream! Here's a picture of me eating my whipped cream.
I have some on my chin. Don't worry, I'll get that later.
On Sunday my human got me up early and we went for a walk. A little dog named Obie followed me all the way down our sidewalk. I tried to walk faster but he ran to catch up. Go. Away. He wouldn't. He was cute, but I was tired. I saw Roethke and Duchess and I ran after the ball once with Roethke and then I was done. Later my human got ready to go out again. Um, where are you going? Are you taking me with? Yes, she was! We went in the car. It was a long ride, so I got to sleep some more. We drove to Prairie Wolf Dog Park again! Oh boy! I bet they have rabbits there this time! They didn't. We met Dundee Boy and Scruffy and their humans, Frank and Yvette. Right away Yvette stopped and gave us hot dogs. MMMMMMM! Hot dogs!!! Here's a picture of me getting my hot dog.
Another dog is already lining up for his. We don't know who he is, but he wanted hot dogs too. I like Yvette. We walked around for a little while. It was muddy. Before long it was time for more hot dogs! Mmmmmmm! Here's a picture of me and Scruffy and Dundee Boy waiting for our hot dogs.
The red dog is an interloper. He didn't get any. My human told me not to be pushy and to sit stay for hot dogs. Fine. Here's a picture of me 'being good' for hot dogs.
Do you see any of the other dogs sit staying for hot dogs? No, you don't. If I'm pushy and I get more hot dogs then I must want them more. Hmph! Then we walked around some more. My human told me I had to keep an eye on Dundee Boy. Huh? Apparently he isn't allowed off leash very often because he runs away. Here's a picture of me trying to keep an eye on Dundee Boy.
He ran way ahead of us. I don't think I like this job. Here's a picture of me and Scruffy.
You can see DB running around in the background. Here's a picture of all of us climbing up to the outlook.
I'm still keeping an eye on DB. I don't know who the yellow lab is next to me. He wanted to join our pack. We didn't let him. I'm keeping an eye on my human too. Here's a picture of me looking around for my human.
See how much work this is? As soon as I turned my back DB ran off again. Here's a picture of him running around while I try and enjoy myself.
Sigh. Dundee Boy ran down the other side of the outlook. Hey! Where are you going? Here's a picture of me going after him.
Then he ran off into the brush. Here's a picture of me telling him to get out of the brush and stop running off.
He listened. Sort of. Here's a picture of him not running off.
I'm looking around for my human. Again.
Finally we got to a big field. I ran around after a stick a few times. I got really muddy. Then you know what time it was? Hot dog time!! Here's a picture of me with Scruffy and DB waiting for my hot dog.
Here's a picture of me eating my hot dog.
MMMMMMM! HOT DOGS!!!!! Here's a picture of Dundee Boy about to try and play with me.
You better not put that muddy paw on my back, DB! He didn't. We had been running around for a long time, so we stopped for a water break.
Here's a picture of us taking a water break. I didn't have any. I like my own water bowl, thank you. Then my human made me stop so she could pull stickums out of my paw feathers. Here's a picture of her pulling stuff out of my fur.
See how good I'm being? Here's a picture of my paws.
They're muddy. After all that, me and Scruffy were ready to go home. DB still wanted to run around some more. Me and Scruffy won. Here's a picture of us heading home.
Here's a picture of me stopping to say hi to some other dogs.
My human says we'll go back to Prairie Wolf Dog Park again soon. I hope it isn't too soon. I'm tired. And next time I'm not working! And I'll require more hot dogs. Mmmmm! Hot dogs! Can we bring Yvette? Please???

Prairie Wolf Dog Park

Last weekend I went for a long car ride. I like car rides, but then I thought we were going to work again. No thank you! But instead we went to Prairie Wolf Dog Park. Hey! It smells good out here! I was really excited. Here's a picture of me right when we got inside the park. I can go anywhere? Really?? Oh boy! Here's a picture of me sniffing some weeds. See the mud? I walked right thru it! Then I walked in a big puddle and nobody tried to stop me! Here's a picture of me in the big puddle. I'm so happy!! Then we found snow!!!!! SNOW!!!!! I didn't think I'd ever see snow again. Here's a picture of me by the snow. There was just a little, but still – SNOW! We walked thru a really big field and guess what we found? MORE SNOW! Here's another picture of me in the more snow. Here's a picture of me saying hi to another dog – in the SNOW!! I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!!! There were lots of places with streams and grasses too. And I got to walk right thru them! Here's a picture of me in a big muddy stream. I'm thinking of crossing it, but I don't want to get told no. Here's a picture of me walking thru the muddy stream. Look at all the mud on the other side! I got to walk right thru it!! It felt squishy in my toes. Then I got to run thru the woods. Here's a picture of me running thru the woods. It's an action shot. Here's a picture of me standing in the trees. I'm pretending I'm hunting with my pack. We're deep in the woods on the trail of a fat moose! Mmmmmmmmoooose! Here's another picture of me in the park. Does this picture make my tail look big? Prairie Wolf Dog Park was SO MUCH FUN!! I even got sticks stuck in my fur and mud on my belly! I give Prairie Wolf Dog Park 4 PAWS! But it's a lot of work keeping track of my humans when they're off leash. I have to keep looking back to see where they are and make sure they don't get lost. They would both die in the wild. No, seriously. They have no sense of hearing or smell and half the time I don't think they can see very well either. They make so much noise. They couldn't catch a wounded two-legged squirrel. I have to keep an eye on them all the time. It's exhausting. Here's a picture of me looking around to make sure they're still right behind me. Here's another picture of me looking for them. Don't wander off!! Keep up!! After an hour I couldn't take it anymore. You people wear me out! I headed for the parking lot gate. Wait! I only have one human with me! Where's the other one? She found a stick. Hey! Where are you going with that? Come back here! I had to go after her. Then she threw the stick. Sigh. Okay, I'll go get it. Here's a picture of me running with the stick. It's not my best angle. She threw it again. No! I'm tired. We're leaving. NOW. I went to the gate and watched them to make sure they followed me. Here's a picture of me waiting for them at the gate. See how far behind me they are? Hpmh! We stopped to see Joe at Parkview Pet Supplies on the way home and I got treats and a lamb ear. Then we went home. I was so tired.
