Doing Stuff With Roethke

The past month Roethke has gone to agility with me. We carpool. I don't get that. I see a car, but I don't see any pool. My human takes pictures of us in the car. Not in the pool. Again, no pool.

Here's a picture of us in the car.

We're hoping for treats. We didn't get any.

We also went to Home Depot together. It was kind of boring. There was a hot dog stand. I could smell it, but I didn't get any hot dogs. Sigh.

Here's a picture of us at Home Depot.

It's blurry. No wait, I'm blurry! Maybe it's because of the no hot dog situation. I get blurry when I don't eat.

We went for a long walk in the park. Here's a picture of us in the park.

Pretty self-explanatory.

We hung out on the back deck too. Here's a picture of us on the back deck.

Yeah, good times.

Happy 2015!

I don't know how it got to be 2015 already. One minute I was having fun at a cabin in Michigan and the next thing I know my human is dragging a dead tree out of the house!

In October I went to My Sweet Adeline's cabin in Michigan with my friend, Knuckles. Our humans came too. I got to run around off leash and go in the lake and woods. I even got to chase a raccoon! Then I was on leash again. But I can't chase the raccoon when I'm on leash - take it off! My human didn't take it off. Here are some pictures from my cabin trip.

Here's me in front of the cabin.

Here's me on the dock in the backyard.

Here's me taking my morning dip.

Knuckles is a late sleeper, so I spent some time alone in the morning. Here's me exploring on my own.

Here's me playing with a stick in the backyard.

Here's me in the neighbor's yard.

Here's me and the neighbor dog, Lucy.

Here we are in her backyard.

Here's me taking my afternoon dip with Lucy.

Oh, look who's up. Here's me resting while Lucy and Knuckles play.

Yeah, just keep it over there and we'll be fine.

Here's me and Knuckles hitting the road.

Squirrel!!

Here's me and Knuckles taking a late afternoon dip.

Here's me drying off after my late afternoon dip. Do I smell raccoon???

Here's me in the yard after chasing the raccoon.

Seriously, the leash is not necessary!

Here's me on the dock, post raccoon chase.

Here's me and Knuckles forced to pose in the front yard.

Here's me resting in the cabin.

I give My Sweet Adeline's 4 PAWS UP!!! When are we going back? I bet they have lots of rabbits there in the winter!

New, new, and …..RABBIT!!

My blog did not move, but I did! Here is a picture of me at my new house.

I'm in the backyard. MY yard. Mine. Mine. MINE! And it has lots of RABBITS! Big, fat, juicy rabbits! And little, warm, crunchy baby rrrrrabbits! So far I've caught one baby rabbit. And a squirrel. I could have caught more, but my human gets in the way. A lot. I also like to chase robins. I don't really care about other birds, but robins sounds like rabbits, so there.

Here's another picture of me in my yard.

Do I look happy? SO HAPPY!!

Look! I found a cool place under the deck!

My human didn't like my new spot. She blocked it off with a bunch boards. But I was nice and cool there! Hmph!

I found a new cool spot.

No, wait! Even better! Can you see me? The rabbits can't!

Good luck blocking that!

I like the inside of the house too. Here's where I sit and watch for rabbits coming into my yard.

Sometimes I bark at them. Get out of MY YARD! GET. OUT!

Here's where I like to lie down sometimes. I can keep track of who's on what floor from here.

This is exhausting. I just want to lie in the yard. All day. Every day. Please??

Thank you!!!

Best. Winter. Ever!

It's been so long since I wrote on my blog - time flies when there's a Polar Vortex! I never heard of a Polar Vortex before, but can we have one every year? Please?????

Here is a picture of me enjoying the nice cool weather in the park.

Do I look happy? I am SOOOOOOO HAPPY!!

And here's a picture of me walking in the backyard of my new house.

So much snow!!! I'm heading to where the rabbits live! I almost caught one. Again. Then I got put on leash and taken out of the yard. Huh? It's my yard, right? My human says no running the rabbits out until it's warm and they can find someplace safe to go. Um…I wasn't planning to run them out. Just eat them! MMMMMMMM!!!! Rabbits!!

This has been such a good winter. But my best friend, Roethke moved away and I really, really miss him. Here's a picture of us from last year when he came home for a visit.

We had so much fun!!

I did make a couple of new friends, but I don't see them as often. Here's a picture of me playing with my new friends, Chavo and Rocco.

Here's another one.

Body slam!!

And one more…

Yeah!!!!!

The rest of the winter has been pretty much the same. Snow and cold, cold and snow! I got to take lots of snow naps while my human shoveled.

Can it be like this all year?

Oh, and then there's this.

Dog shaming. Not a fan. Next time I'd like some ham with my loaf of bread. And some cheese too. Yeah, lots of ham and cheese.

The Nose Knows!

Last year I was taking nose work classes - or as I call them, nose FUN classes - with Emily Stoddard of Canine Sports. Then my human stopped taking me. I don't know why. But now I'm taking them again!

My human wasn't sure I would remember how to find birch. Do I get cheese if I find it? Then of course I remember!! Here's a video of me doing my nose work with the birch scent.

See? Totally remembered! Cheese, please! Mmmmmmmm!!! Cheese!

Agility Class

A few months ago Karen A. Hollis of Sirius Pet Images came to my agility class with Hawk City K9 and took pictures.

Here's a picture of me on the A-frame.

Here's a picture of me coming out of the tunnel.

And here's a picture of me jumping through the tire.

Do I look happy? I was! I got lots of cheese treats! Next time can I have some bacon too? Mmmmmmm! Bacon! I'd go really fast for bacon. I give my agility class 4 Paws!

Barn Hunt...Sort Of

This morning my human got me up at 5am. Five. A. M. Do you know how early that is? Too damn early, that's how early. She took me for my walk at 6. Here's a picture of me on my 6am walk.

 'Nuff said.

Then our friends Scruffy and Yvette showed up and we all piled in the car. Hey! Why does he get to ride in the front seat!? Hmph.

We drove forEVer! Where are we going? Are you dropping me off at a farm? I think I want to go home now. We didn't go home. We went to Union Grove, Wisconsin. It's like 500 miles away. My human says not. Whatever. It's really far. When we got there they were having a Barn Hunt. A what? Why would anyone hunt a barn? Um, ok, there's the barn. Done. Can we go home now? It turns out we weren't hunting barns; we were hunting rats inside a barn. Why didn't you say so?

My human signed me up for 2 events. The first was the Instinct Course. I had 1 minute to go thru a course of hay bales where there were 3 plastic tubes and I had to tell my human which one had the rat in it. I went right to the rat one and let her know. She didn't get it. I had to go back and show her again. She got it! My human said I passed the Instinct Course.  I say my human passed it, but barely. Either way, I got RATI certified.

Then we stood/sat/laid around for a million hours. It was hot and I wanted to go home and go back to bed. Then I smelled something wonderful! I smelled bratwurst! MMMMMM!! Bratwurst!! And hot dogs! MMMMM! And potato chips! MMMMMMNGGGHHAAAHHHH!!!! I walked my human over to the bratwurst/hotdog/potato chip table. She walked me back out to the barn. What the?? I walked her back to the table and sat in front of it. She walked me back to the barn. Seriously, how dim can you get? It took me four tries to get my human to understand that I wanted a bratwurst! Sigh. She finally bought me a bratwurst. Um, I wanted a hot dog too. And chips! I only got a bratwurst.

Then we waited around some more. Here's a picture of me waiting outside the barn for the Novice Course.

Do I look hot to you? I was hot.

Here's a picture of me and Scruffy waiting under a tent outside the barn.

Much better. Know what would be even better? An air conditioned car! We stayed by the barn. I finally got my human to go to the car, but she still didn't put the air on. Then it was my turn. I had 2 minutes to go thru another hay bale course and find a rat in a tube. The first one I smelled was something else. My human thought it was a rat and told the judge. Then I went and smelled another one. It had a rat in it. My human got it! She spent awhile trying to get me to go thru a little hay bale tunnel. I didn't see the point. Then our 2 minutes were up and we were done. My human did not pass, so I did not get RATN certified. Here's a picture of me in front of the Novice course.

I liked climbing on the bales of hay.

So, are we going home now? We went home. It seemed like a really long way to go for just part of a bratwurst. I give the barn hunt 1 Paw because of all the driving and waiting. Next time can we just have a barbeque and I'll dig a hole under a bush? When we got home I went back to bed.
