The Nose Knows!

Last year I was taking nose work classes - or as I call them, nose FUN classes - with Emily Stoddard of Canine Sports. Then my human stopped taking me. I don't know why. But now I'm taking them again!

My human wasn't sure I would remember how to find birch. Do I get cheese if I find it? Then of course I remember!! Here's a video of me doing my nose work with the birch scent.

See? Totally remembered! Cheese, please! Mmmmmmmm!!! Cheese!

Agility Class

A few months ago Karen A. Hollis of Sirius Pet Images came to my agility class with Hawk City K9 and took pictures.

Here's a picture of me on the A-frame.

Here's a picture of me coming out of the tunnel.

And here's a picture of me jumping through the tire.

Do I look happy? I was! I got lots of cheese treats! Next time can I have some bacon too? Mmmmmmm! Bacon! I'd go really fast for bacon. I give my agility class 4 Paws!

Barn Hunt...Sort Of

This morning my human got me up at 5am. Five. A. M. Do you know how early that is? Too damn early, that's how early. She took me for my walk at 6. Here's a picture of me on my 6am walk.

 'Nuff said.

Then our friends Scruffy and Yvette showed up and we all piled in the car. Hey! Why does he get to ride in the front seat!? Hmph.

We drove forEVer! Where are we going? Are you dropping me off at a farm? I think I want to go home now. We didn't go home. We went to Union Grove, Wisconsin. It's like 500 miles away. My human says not. Whatever. It's really far. When we got there they were having a Barn Hunt. A what? Why would anyone hunt a barn? Um, ok, there's the barn. Done. Can we go home now? It turns out we weren't hunting barns; we were hunting rats inside a barn. Why didn't you say so?

My human signed me up for 2 events. The first was the Instinct Course. I had 1 minute to go thru a course of hay bales where there were 3 plastic tubes and I had to tell my human which one had the rat in it. I went right to the rat one and let her know. She didn't get it. I had to go back and show her again. She got it! My human said I passed the Instinct Course.  I say my human passed it, but barely. Either way, I got RATI certified.

Then we stood/sat/laid around for a million hours. It was hot and I wanted to go home and go back to bed. Then I smelled something wonderful! I smelled bratwurst! MMMMMM!! Bratwurst!! And hot dogs! MMMMM! And potato chips! MMMMMMNGGGHHAAAHHHH!!!! I walked my human over to the bratwurst/hotdog/potato chip table. She walked me back out to the barn. What the?? I walked her back to the table and sat in front of it. She walked me back to the barn. Seriously, how dim can you get? It took me four tries to get my human to understand that I wanted a bratwurst! Sigh. She finally bought me a bratwurst. Um, I wanted a hot dog too. And chips! I only got a bratwurst.

Then we waited around some more. Here's a picture of me waiting outside the barn for the Novice Course.

Do I look hot to you? I was hot.

Here's a picture of me and Scruffy waiting under a tent outside the barn.

Much better. Know what would be even better? An air conditioned car! We stayed by the barn. I finally got my human to go to the car, but she still didn't put the air on. Then it was my turn. I had 2 minutes to go thru another hay bale course and find a rat in a tube. The first one I smelled was something else. My human thought it was a rat and told the judge. Then I went and smelled another one. It had a rat in it. My human got it! She spent awhile trying to get me to go thru a little hay bale tunnel. I didn't see the point. Then our 2 minutes were up and we were done. My human did not pass, so I did not get RATN certified. Here's a picture of me in front of the Novice course.

I liked climbing on the bales of hay.

So, are we going home now? We went home. It seemed like a really long way to go for just part of a bratwurst. I give the barn hunt 1 Paw because of all the driving and waiting. Next time can we just have a barbeque and I'll dig a hole under a bush? When we got home I went back to bed.

My Photo Shoot!

A few weeks ago I had a photo shoot with FurTography by Di Kulka. My human picked out her favorites for me to post on my blog. We started out in the park, but it was too hot. You think I'm chasing a ball out here? It must be 100 in the shade! My human said it was only 50 out, but I'm pretty sure it was hotter. How about I just stand here and look pretty? Here are some pictures of me in the park.

I'm lying down here because I'm so hot.

I don't remember what my human said, but it was hilarious!

Ok, I'm going to the beach now, with or without you! We went to the beach.

Here's a picture of me at the beach.

Ahhhhhhhhh. SO much better!

Here are some more pictures of me at the beach.

Ok, now I'm ready to play!

Throw it! Throw the stick! Throw! Throw! Throw!

NNNGGAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

 SO fun!

Happy face!

Here's a picture of me taking a break after playing fetch.

My human calls this one a beauty shot.

But seriously, aren't they all? Yeah, they are.

When we were done, Di hung out with me on the beach and gave me a much appreciated massage. Here's a picture of us hanging out.

Here's a picture of me getting my post shoot massage.

Yeah, that's the spot right there! I give Di Kulka 4 Paws!

Collar and Leash Revisited!

The other week I went to Collar and Leash. Last time I was there I had to stand outside. We were protesting with The Puppy Mill Project because they were selling dogs from puppy mills. But now they get all their dogs from rescues so we could go inside and get treats! MMMMMMM!!! My human bought me a really good treat too! Here's a picture of me with the woman from Collar and Leash and Cari Meyers from The Puppy Mill Project.

They're blurry. I'm not because I know how to pose for a picture. And I'm smiling like the signs says to. It was really crowded so we didn't stay long. I give Collar and Leash 3 Paws for being carpeted, having good treats and helping homeless dogs find homes!

Winter Montage

I haven't written anything in awhile. That's my human's fault. I've been doing lots of fun things since January. To bring everyone up to date, here are a bunch of photos from the past two months. Um, and maybe a video. Or two.

Here's a picture of me and Roethke playing with sticks.

My human says we look like mad flautists. Did you say flautas? Mmmmmm! Yes, please! I'll have the chicken flautas and the pork flautas and the beef flautas - and make it a double!

Here's a picture of me and Roethke sharing a stick.

Yeah. It was a really good stick!

Here's a picture of me in the front yard enjoying the snow.

No, I'm not ready to go in yet.

Here's a bunch of pictures of me at Prairie Wolf Dog Park.

Hey! You're not Roethke! Who they are? I don't know. I got to chase the big red one.

Here's a video of me and Roethke playing in the snow!

Here's a video of me practicing my Nose Fun in the snow!

MMMMMMMMMM! Duck foot!

Here's a picture of me napping with my cat brother Enoki.

It's blurry. He was only with us for a few months and he died from FIP. I liked Enoki a lot. He tossed treats off the counter for me. My humans don't feed me enough - I need those treats!

Now the snow is all gone and it's getting warm. I want more snow and cold! I went to the beach today and got to walk in the cold water. It felt so good! Then I found a big patch of snow in the park. I was so excited I rolled on it and barked. Then I took a nap in the snow. I could have stayed there all day, but my human made me come inside. Can we move to Alaska? I'm pretty sure there's still snow there.

New Year's 2013

Today is New Year's Day. It doesn't feel any different from the old year to me. My human wanted to take me to a park for my Winter Parks Tour. I wanted to go to the beach. Here's a picture of me at the beach.

It turns out my human won't actually pick me up and put me in the car like she threatened. We stayed at the beach for a long time. The sun and cold felt SO GOOD! Here's a picture of me enjoying myself at the beach.

Do I look like I want to go home? No, I don't. My human made me go home. I took the long way. Then I laid down in the yard. Here's a picture of me in the yard.

What? You said we were going home. The yard is home. My human says next time someone asks what kind of dog I am, she's going to say 'stubborn and lazy'. The next time a dog asks me what kind of human she is, I'm going to say 'annoying'. Here's a picture of me in the yard ignoring my annoying human.

I'll go inside when I'm damn well ready! Happy New Year!
